The Facilitators Association of Japan (FAJ) is a private organization dedicated to the dissemination of facilitation and has been certified as a Specified Non-profit Organization (NPO) by the Japanese cabinet office since January 2004.

Our Mission:

Our mission is to appreciate diversity, draw competence out of people, and create collaboration between organizations and society (community).
The Facilitators Association of Japan (FAJ) is a Specified Non-profit Organization (NPO) for the dissemination and development of facilitation. Our goals are as follows: through disseminating facilitation we increase productivity, motivation and leadership in the business sector and increase the quality of citizens' activities, community governance, and international exchange in the social sector, while developing human resources incorporating multifaceted points of view.

The Facilitator members of the FAJ cover a broad spectrum, from beginners to professionals with expertise in various sectors such as business, community building, NPO, education, environment, medical and welfare service. We are dedicated to developing, through facilitation, an autonomous decentralized society where diverse people collaborate with one another.

Profile of the Disaster Recovery Support Section of FAJ

The Disaster Recovery Section has been established to provide various types of support through facilitation for the rebuilding of local communities recovering from the compound catastrophe of earthquakes, tsunami and accidents in the nuclear power plants on March 11, 2011. These support activities include enhancing the network among municipalities, Social Welfare Councils, NPO's and NGO 's operating in the impacted Tohoku and greater Tokyo areas (including surrounding prefectures). The section continues their activity as of December 2015.

Supporting the facilitation of meetings:

-raise the level of satisfaction with your meetings,

-have efficient and effective meetings,
We can support you from the preparatory phase to the facilitation in the meetings, providing operational support for the meeting or conference through graphic facilitation skills.

Supporting workshop facilitation:
If you want to
-have the voice of citizens included in the recovery plan for the community,
-support the communication of their experience and what they have to say as residents in the disaster-stricken areas,
-explore and deepen the connection between people,
We will support and advise to create the space in meetings where participants' voices are heard, and feelings are spoken, expressed and received, including designing programs to teach meeting facilitation.
